During your initial treatment visit, our TCM practitioners formulate a personalized treatment plan designed for your health goals. Along with acupuncture, herbal medicine, and various available modalities are implemented to help you reach your optimal state of health.  Several treatments, received relatively close together, are recommended initially to optimize outcomes. How Acupuncture Works

Following the Chinese Medicine diagnosis, acupuncture needles are inserted into the body at specific points along acupuncture meridians, which stimulates the body’s healing. Electromagnetic research has confirmed the locations of these meridians.

According to ancient medical theory, acupuncture allows energy to flow to areas where it is deficient, and away from areas where it is in excess. In this way, acupuncture regulates and restores a harmonious energetic balance in the body.

What to Expect at Your Treatment

The treatment space is designed to create a relaxing and healing experience.  The tranquil environment with heated treatment tables, soft music all will help to relax fully.

Your acupuncture treatments may include points on your hands, arms, legs and feet, and/ or head and neck.

Since acupuncture channels flow across the entire body it is possible to treat neck problems with points on the hands and feet. You will not need to undress, but we recommend wear loose clothing that can be comfortably rolled up if necessary.

What Electro-Acupuncture Treats

Electroacupuncture is a form of acupuncture where a small electric current is passed between pairs of acupuncture needles. The mild electrical stimulation applies more energy to acupoints than needle twirling or other hand manipulation techniques an acupuncturist might use. There is little to no discomfort during an electroacupuncture treatment.

Electroacupuncture is especially good for neurological diseases, chronic pain, spasms, paralysis, and sports injuries. When combined with acupressure electro-acupuncture has been proven to promote the flow of blood, relieve pain, and warm the muscles, removing blood stasis and improving circulation to areas of the body that need healing.

What Cupping Can Treat

Our practitioners offer traditional fire cupping, as well as mechanical suction cupping for fast relief in 30 minute sessions. Cupping can relieve back and neck pains, improve body movement, stiff muscles, anxiety, fatigue, migraines, rheumatism, and many more issues. We practice authentic Chinese cupping therapy that is rooted in Traditional Chinese medicine.

We can also help you effectively incorporate cupping therapy into an acupuncture treatment plan to achieve the best possible outcome for your overall health goals.

What to Expect at your Treatment

Cupping uses specialized glass or silicone cups shaped like a small round jar. In strategic areas of the body, the cups are placed to suction to the skin using mechanical devices or flammable liquids that are lit to allow heat to naturally remove the air from the cup. The suction from the cups improve flow by allowing the fluids of the body to move more freely. Cupping can result in bruising, soreness, and other mild side effects.

Moxibustion (Moxa)

What does Moxibustion Treat?

Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese medicine therapy that uses heat therapy near the surface of the skin with the intention to help dispel certain pathogenic influences from the body.

Moxa is made from an herb called Chinese mugwort. This alternative therapy involves burning moxa and applying the resulting heat to specific points on the body to help improve circulation and heal the body.

There are several methods of moxibustion including burning moxa on top of an acupuncture needle or holding moxa sticks over the areas or acupuncture points. You may receive moxa instructions specific to your concerns as “homework” between your treatments.

Benefits of Moxibustion Include:

Reducing pain and inflammation

Increasing healing time from injuries

Menstrual issues

Digestive disorders such as ulcerative colitis

Boosting immunity

Auriculotherapy Treatments

Auriculotherapy (ear seeds) are offered at our Bandon office and other locales as concierge service. Recieve an ear seed treatment in clinic or buy your own ear seed kit to take home for self-care. Auriculotherapy uses ear seeds or small pellets to stimulate specific acupressure points in your ear to help treat a range of health issues.

Ear Seed Treatment (Auriculotherapy-No Needles)

10 minutes are scheduled for ear seed placement. This is a great service for anyone who wants a needleless, yet still powerful, “to go” treatment. The ear seeds or pellets provide great relief from many conditions including pain, anxiety, depression, insomnia, GI upset, headache, allergies, fatigue, and more. The seeds can stay in place with the adhesive tape up to 5 days, and may come off naturally by themselves before this time.
